Hello beauts! How has blogland been lately? I've missed it so much! The past week has been very hectic and also quite lonely at times; I'm back at uni, been catching up with all my friends who some I hadn't seen for nearly FOUR months! Summer is just too long! I've been out partying, enrolling at uni, already on a partying ban/revolt, been to hospital, missing home, and finally...Back home already for a long weekend. 

My university timetable is the best; I have thursday and friday off each week, so this allows me to come home or go and visit my friends over at other universities! Nice bit! 

The picture above is the best one I could find from that night of my outfit, and what are you thinking of my hair? I'm trying something a little more centred after I've seen some gorgeous girls with middle partings... I finally feel my hair is long enough to try and achieve this centre parting perfection... Oh and I'm also gonna be using hair extensions pretty soon fingers crossed!  

I've got lots more party outfits to upload when I get my hands on my housemate's camera. It's so annoying not having the internet in our uni house at the moment! Need to get that sorted asap!

MEGA apologies for the absence lately, I've moved back down to Southampton and currently do not have internet in my house... So when I'm at my most creative (2am) I'm unable to get the posts written up and scheduled. wedding belles

In this post, I mentioned my search for a dress to wear to a family friends wedding. It seemed like forever away so I was in no rush to go out and buy it- big mistake! The week before the wedding I was off sick from work and practically stuck in bed with flu. 

So the day of the wedding I finally dragged myself out of bed, showered for the first time in days, curled my hair and walked over to my wardrobe... No dress to wear. I ended up wearing a black dress. 

Yes black. I felt hideous all day in a morbid black dress whilst everyone else was wearing bright pinks and blue... wedding dress colours. 

But anyway here are a few photos of the amazing day.

The day was delightful, after the ceremony there was champagne (even though I wasn't drinking because I was so ill I had one glass), and instead of the usual boring nibbles there was a HUGE selection of sweets, haribo rings, fizzy bottles, love hearts (you get the theme right..?)

{uno} i love her hair. 

you know that something thats so small and kinda insignificant, that you'll never be able to have? in my case its blonde hair. in others it may be being able to pull off thigh high boots without looking like Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. You get my drift? well this gal's hair is everything i'd ever want my hair to be: the fringe, the colour, the beehive.

Katty Besnard is the lead singer out of the band 'Plastiscines' a cool english singing french band who describe their music as "disco house/thrash/glam". they featured in an episode of Gossip Girl (s.3 ep.9) that I watched yesterday, loved their style & their music. check them out here.

I've been obsessed with Vintage Chanel Classic bag (quilted leather, double chain handles, gold tone signature detail) since... I don't actually know how long. I'm ashamed to say my first 'inspired' buy, was an awful silver (yes silver!) quilted bag... I remember the day I saw it in the shop (Boros- in case you wondered) and it had a price tag to £14.99. Yes, now I know its completely hideous, but back then I loved it, my aunt saw this desire to own said bag and purchased it for me as an 'early birthday present'. The bag was on my shoulder for months, until the handle snapped off that is. I think I've owned every high street imitation of the Classic Chanel Quilted Clutch. (My favourite being my Marc B...)

Anywho, todays www is a beaut, its a step back from the Chanel, its so simple, and  incorporates the gorgeous chain handle feature. Much love for this beautiful Mulberry bag (also comes in light brown leather!)

you know you love me...

I don't know many things... I'm not academically gifted, I don't know how to draw, I can't even play an instrument... But I do know one thing... Gossip Girl is one of the best TV shows ever created. The fashion, the beautiful people, the manipulation, the lifestyle... Don't get me wrong quite a lot of the complex characters seem to live quite a lonely life- I'm on season 3 right now and Serena may have the looks but she didn't really have any friends at one point...

Which leads me to explain why that photo above is so drab. I have no make up on, and am wearing a leopard print tee from H&M and some Superdry trackies. Today is my 'catch-up-on-gossip-girl-day'. Being at uni last year and having a very active social/drinking life, didn't leave me much time to watch TV programmes (or study for that matter... -must.change.ways.) so in honour of season 4 coming on to our screens and starting a new leaf, I'm tryna catch up to have that weekly suspense feeling at the end and beginning of each episode. Lovely jubbly.

braving it.

We got back from our little family vay-cay early Saturday evening so when I called my besties to see what they were upto going out seemed like a good idea after being cooped up with my family for a week.

Here's my gorgeous friend Sianie and I, the dress I'm wearing is hers, its from topshop... The reasoning for the title post 'braving it' is because this dress requires you not to wear a bra as it has a really nice open back... now I've always had issues with my boobs so this was a first for me and it also kinda debuted my tattoo as well :) Sianies dress is also from topshop. There was a full length photo of my outfit but the lighting was awful as well as terrible quality cause it was taken on a blackberry. 

anywho, after that liberating experience I'm thinking of investing in a few more sexy back dresses.... Backs are the new boobs I'm told. Haha!

home at last!

Fresh from my trip to Scotland, I'm back! The day after I left for my trip I was gutted to realise that I hadn't scheduled all the posts only the first one. So big sorry's for that.  I've really missed blogging!

How was your week? I did keep up with some blogs from my iPhone, however last night I had tonnes and tonnes more to read which was very inspiring. 

This is what I wore on the first day: superdry cardigan, h&m top, diy shorts, h&m tights, ebay boots, F21 & Accessorize necklaces. Thankfully there was no need for a coat, but I did accessorize with some sexy superdry sunnies :) 

Scotland was surprisingly sunny, I had a lovely time seeing all my family and just spending quality time with my little sisters (I don't live with my dad sisters, I live with my mum. Well I actually live at uni now so even less time with them) We went to shopping in Glasgow City Centre which is architecturally beautiful, also visited the Kelvingrove art gallery and museum which was pretty interesting.

Big blunder; sieve brain; holiday mode

Hello my lovelies! Hope you are all well!

This is a quick post to apologise: I didn't schedule the rest of the weeks posts! I quickly checked the blog on my iPhone earlier and today's Wildest Wednesday Wishes hadn't gone up and I wondered why... The posts are still on my MacBook at home 400miles away :( So on Sunday you're gonna be an overload of material to read!!!!!!


Hope you're having a lovely week so far, I am! Visited lots of family whom I haven't seen in quite some time and it's been lovely, especially seeing my papa so happy (hehasn't seen his family in nearly 5yrs!)

Last night we went to Hampden Park to watch the Scottish national side play against Lichtenstein (we won 2-1!), it was an amazing atmosphere! Then today went to Glasgow city centre and checked out the shopping... And if you've got me on twitter (if you haven't then add me: alanavs !!!) then you'd know that I went to the Kelvingrove museum and art gallery, I LOVED it, I already have many plans to visit lots of gallarys when I get back down to the beautiful south!!!

holiday packing & a screaming toddler...

Oh my! Today's post is a stark contrast from yesterdays. That beautiful giggling toddler I was talking about is currently screaming and crying due to a cold and teething, whilst I'm trying to watch the last episode of Pretty Little Liars (which I love!)...
So instead of half heartedly watching it, I made a set on Polyvore... 

I was going for the theme of- 'typical Alana outfit; weather appropriate for bonny Scotland'. Ok I'm not going to be wearing the all saints boots or the topshop parka but my versions are pretty similar. On the day I wear it, there will be an outfit photo taken! 

Oh and however cute and lovely you think Scotland looks in that little image to the left- its not like that everywhere in Scotland...namely the places I'm headed. 

There'll be one last post tomorrow before I set off into the night, and the hopefully a weeks (or round about) worth of scheduled posts for all you lovelies to read!

snotty tissues & a giggling toddler...

The lack of posting these last two days is due to me being struck down with the common cold/sinusitis/flu/what felt like DEATH, so I do apologise. I've been experiencing excruciating earache, loss of voice & constant running nose (I hope you can picture it!), due to working in a popular chicken restaurant who are keen beans on their health and hygiene I managed to blag the last few days off of work... 

 'Even more time to blog' I hear you screaming! Well no, because I've had this (to the left) little ray of sunshine to look after. 

-And yes before you ask, that is a toddler in a basket watching the washing machine go round...


Emmy, my baby cousin and is currently staying with me as her house is having some  improvements made to it. She's an absolute beaut and I wish I could show her gorgeous little face off to the world, but I don't think her mum would be too pleased.. So a shot of the back of her head will do haha!


Honestly though- I've been feeling absolutely terrible for the last 4days and she has kept me smiling, she's just started walking so she's a mischievous little thing, all my family says she reminds them of me. Ha!


I am actually planning on getting dressed tomorrow so an outfit post may definitely be coming your way bloggers ;)

ruffling up a few feathers...

Michelle from daisybutter commented on my previous post and kindly informed me that there was a Peacock dress currently in stock in Topshop... Well I had a scout about and here it is... The Peacock One Sleeve Dress... It was everything I expected and more, I love the sheer sleeve, the elasticated waist and not too dear price (£45)...  I'm thinking a thin black plait belt and some nice black pumps for the evening. 

Going on the theme of 'peacock' I found these other dresses and very reasonable prices... 

Left: Mina Peacock Feather Dress, I chose this dress as its quite casual, a dress to wear during the day with some thick tights, brogues, satchel bag and a khaki parka? The dress is from ASOS and currently has 61% of the original price (£22 at the mo!) 

Right: The second dress, Vero Moda Peacock Dress is obviously alot more glam and very flirty yet sophisticated, perfect for a few cocktails with the girls. I love the neck of this dress, it's something completely different, and the ruffles/layers are very cute. All of this and its black- a staple colour in my shoe wardrobe. Today's WWW, is this gorgeous Gold Peacock Cuff, straight from Nicole Richie's House of Harlow1960 jewellery line. Isn't it gorgeous?! I have an obsession with peacocks, their feathers*  and other feathers** so this is perfect... At £157 this is relatively reasonable and quite frankly I could save up for it in no time... stuff on my cat...

Say hello to the bestest kitty in the world. This is Max, and he's pretty much a legend. He thinks he's human. He drinks from a cup. Sleeps under the duvet.  You get my drift... Well this was Max tonight, I found some pom-poms that I brought for the Cheerleader & Jock themed Carnage (which I didnt end up going to)... and decided to well, put them on him. And to be honest he didn't seem to mind.

Today was a long day, I'm coming down with a cold so I was real sleepy, earache has to be my least favourite thing in the world.

Todays outfit was really cute (but no pic unfortunately), as I was sorting out stuff to take to Southampton with me, I came across my brogues which I had totally forgotten about so they were the footwear choice!
