work attire #4 : Leather Collar Worker

Finally settling into my new job, it is VERY different from my old one. For a start I can have an extra few hours lay in thanks to the 20 minute drive to work opposed to the 1.5 hour train joruney to work!

 

The office is much more casual than my previous job so my outfits are due to get more relaxed as I go on! In my first week I wore skirts, lots of black and heels. I'm currently sitting here in a big chunky knit jumper and jeans!

 

A HUGE thank you to you lovely 200 girls who now follow my blog. It only took me 2 years to reach this milestone but we did it! Thanks girls!

Girls night out always sends a chill down my spine. I have some of the best dressed girls known to man as Best Friends and I always panic that my look isn't going to be on par. Solution: borrow clothes from said Best Friends. This dress is borrowed from my gurl SinCity (muchos gracias babes). It's a H&M beaut bargain that she bought for only £12.99! 

The dress really does accentuate my curvy bod/bum and I kind of like it. Hey! Gotta love the skin you're in. 

In other news, I found a similar dress to the one I was looking for! It was found on ebay and one won the auction. Super excited to receive it and recreate the Nasty Gal look, along with the armlet that I've bought. My ebay jewellery addiction is definitely reaching new heights, on my recently purchased items out of about 20, 18 are jewels. I bought a two Nicole Richie inspired necklaces, they came in the post today and whilst I love the pendant part of one of them, the chain is super tacky/cheap looking gold so I'll be getting a new longer chain for it. 

What are your favourite ebay jewellery buys at the moment? Are there any ebay shops that you buy from regularly?

Everyone loves to share their opinion. Yours is needed!

Bonjour ladies. I'm in desperate need of your opinion so I'm going to get straight down to business...  

In just over 2 weeks time, I'll be jetting off to Marrakech for a much needed holiday.  Cue the panic of what to wear around the pool, what make up will be good for the evenings and the most important one- holiday hair.  

PROBLEM 1) 

Beach/pool wear. I'm off to Morocco so I'm going to be trying to give off the whole effortless chic look (yeah right, the amount of planning going into it scratches out the 'i-just-threw-this-look-together'). I have tonnes of bikinis that I absolutely love and admittedly I've had a few of them for a couple of years. With my body shape (very pear- a juicy booty and flat chest), I know what styles suit me so I stick to it. My main problem is what to throw over my bikini during the day or for trips to the Souks (that's a Moroccan market, right?)  

I came across this light dress on Nasty Gal's website, and absolutely fell in love with everything about it, I love it, I love the styling and I have a huge girl crush on the model haha. My only problem is it took me a few days to um and ahh over whether it would make it in time all the way from America and by the time I decided on getting it, it was out of stock. BOO.  

Do you know where I could get something similar?? Speak now girls! 

PROBLEM 2)  

My barnet. As you may well know I was rocking the dip dye look from December to about May this year. After a while I got a bit bored so I just dyed over it and went all brown again. Its a veryyy slight dipdye now, but the ends are well and truly dead because I didn't take care of them (oopsie)... 

I have an appointment booked in tomorrow for the chop, and was thinking of going a bit shorter... A hair idol of mine is good ole' Fearne Cots. I particularly love the slightly wavy pic of her and the end one also. The final pic at the bottom is of a girl from tumblr methinks, I love it, it looks so effortless but still kinda chic, when I straighten my hair atm it looks so ratty... 

Obviously my hair won't look exactly like this as I'm a brunette, but what are your thoughts? 

PROBLEM 3) 

Jewellery.  I'm a jewellery addict. I literally sit on ebay for hours a day looking for quirky cute necklaces and little bangles, oh how Hong Kong Customs must hate me! I've been looking for a few select pieces lately that I have in mind, the main one being an armlet/upper arm cuff/bangle whatever people may call it...The girl in the top picture (next to problem 1) is wearing one. Do you know where I can get one? 

ALSO, what are your favourite blog shops, I have a few that I like to visit, but I know that there are tonnes more out there. Do you have a blog shop? Is there a shop that you absolutely love and would buy every item from if you could? Please, please, please write the links to them in the comment box below, I would love to browse them and if theres enough I'll make sure I do a blog shop feature and list them all.

(Temporarily) Living in London

Hello! Sorry it's been a while, I've been super busy with work as well as pet/houses-sitting in London. 

Absolutely loved having a mini break in London town, I have soooo many photos to show you :) 

It was an amazing little week away from home and it started of perfectly with the Boyfriend coming up to stay with me for the first weekend, we did so many weird touristy things that I would never have done had we not been staying in London including a boat trip and a visit to the ZOO!

During the week I unfortunately still had to work lots, but luckily got a break mid week in the form of a visit from family which I'll talk about below. I visited starbucks TOO much, ate lots of yummy M&S food thanks to the shop being a few yards from the house and didn't go running as had previously planned (hence why I packed my trainers into my suitcase and they were still in there after a week) This week I need to get to the gym as I'm a very lucky girl and off to Morocco in only 21 days eeeeek! 

As I mentioned, one of the week days my dad and sisters came up to visit as they're on summer holidays so I did even more sight seeing and we went on the London Eye, visited Greenwich and other cool stuffs. My 10 year old sis took this pic. She's no FaceHunter but it'll do (it didn't help that it was so windy too and my outfit looks a bit messy). So thanks Lissy.

I had a trip out to the West End last Thursday with some friends, we went to a club called Cirque Du Soir, have you heard of it/been? Had my face painted with a bit of leopard print (you know how I love tha leopard), proceeded to get drunk and lose my phone not before I managed to Instagram a pic of said facepaint though. BADTIMES. Luckily I had backed up and photo stream had saved all my photos to my iPad (otherwise I would have cried so bad), but still not found the phone, oh and in the case was my ID and Oyster Card too as well as £££ boooohoooo, that teaches me!

I know I'm the worst blogger at making sure there's a new post up every day or even every other day to be honest, but I have lots in store including my trips about London, Outfit posts and lots of new clothes especially of the holiday variety! So be sure to pop back soon.

Friday Frights- Hall of Shame

There is no doubt that for a show as huge as the X Factor, Tulisa will have unlimited resources to wear some of the most amazing dresses in the world.... Yet here she is yesterday looking like she just stepped out of time machine from 2007, when yes, Herve Leger bandage dresses were in demand. 

I don't like this look from (blonde) head to (space shoes) toe. 

Does she have a stylist? If so, get rid, I know some girls who would probably do the job for free and actually put in some effort. If not, get one. 

Really? A bandage dress, really? 

Bring back the days of Dannii, and I can't actually believe I'm saying this but (slick rick) Cheryl too. 

Sorry if you find this post a tad bitchy, it's just frustrating when girls with lots of opportunities to wear amazing clothes and make a statement, wear something so classless and a repeat of Kim Kardashian in her early days....

Get ready to Spice Up Your Life!

Girls, I'm sure you must have heard already, but it's really happening! 

The Spice Girls ARE reuniting for the Olympic Closing ceremony!!!!!!!

You may have seen my tweet weeks ago, it mentioned something about this reunion being career suicide for Queen V(B). Victoria has ALWAYS been my favourite, and I really understand why she may not have wanted this reunion to go ahead... 

After their reunion tour in 2007/8 that I went to and loved every second of, where Victoria didn't do a solo, she instead strutted up and down the catwalk (weird- but hey), I am a little scared for her and her singing skilllzzzzzz... anyone else? Maybe/hopefully she's been seeing a vocal coach haha.  However all this aside I'm too excited to see their performance!

Hellloooo. How's it going?! Happy HUMPDAY! (the weekend is near girls....) I love Wednesday because that means I can officially start planning the weekend... Although there are a few things that I really wanted to do, that are virtually impossible thanks to lack of funds :( (LEEDS BLOGGER MEET UP included). Gutted. Always wanted to go to Harvey Nichols.

Sleepless in Seattle. Tuesday night I got ZERO sleep, was so bloody tired at work, so last night I ended up sleeping for 12 hours!!!! Was so shocked when I woke up! This is my work outfit from yesterday. It was a more casual, fun outfit. I probably wouldn't wear this to a meeting, but would to a work event. If it was sunnier, I would swap the black accessories for something a bit brighter (no tights of course!)

After the normal girly shows- Revenge, Gossip Girl, The Vampire Diaries etc... I just love a gritty bit of gruesome tv! CSI, NY, Miami, NCIS, The Mentalist, Law and Order... I could go on all day! Anyone else got a secret love for crime solving shows? haha. 

I just mentioned Revenge, you're watching it right?! I started watching it and got so obsessed I was a naughty girl and watched all of them online, BUT I do still watch them on a Monday on E4 with my friend! Everything about it is so good, especially Ashley's wardrobe, I'm in love with Ashley Madekwe. Check out her blog. It's to die for!

Bonjour ladies!

Getting straight into it today- here is an example of my usual work outfit. As you may recall, last week I posted a work outfit where I was trying to exude (is that the right word?) a 'grown up' work look. Today's work look is a rather casual and normal look for me, almost my uniform. On event days I am required to wear a dress to events, so I am constantly on the hunt for new LBD’s, if you have recently found any gorgeous and work appropriate work LBD’s then don’t be afraid to link them to me.

better late than never....

I went to Wireless Music Festival this weekend (on Saturday) and what can I say other than it was bloody fantastic!!!

Me and the girls saw some of the most talented individuals in the music business right now!  Example, Rita Ora, Wiz Kalifah, Professor Green, Nicki Minaj & Drake. Nicki was the highlight of my day, she was superdooper AWESOME.

As it was my first festival (ever), I was a bit unsure what to wear, so I definitely opted in for Wellies, and denim shorts (to be precise; black shorts with a DIY stud’. I matched them with a Topshop cross emblazed t-shirt and a vintage denim Levi Shirt.

Pros and cons to this outfit:

Pro's: 

- At points of the day when it was bloody hot, my ensemble kept me cool

- My wellies kept my feet dry from the sudden and unexpected bouts of rain that suddenly seemed            to occur.

Con’s: 

- I only took an umbrella (no rain mac or anything of the sort) so the demin shirt didn’t exactly protect me from the elements.

- My straw hat didn’t last long on my head (I didn’t like the look of it) so I gave it to a friend to wear, when it rained my hair turned into a fuzzball.

- My wellies bruised my shins to bits (I still have lumps and bumps on the front and back) as well as some very sore tootsies, over 3 days later.

Over all, it was an amazing day, but festivals in the rain are NOT for me. Hoping next year it's very sunny and I can wear very normal shoes and clothing garments.

work attire #1

For normal days in the office I wear on-trend attire, like a nice buttoned up blouse with skinnies and heels etc... However on days where we're meeting potential new clients I like to step it up a notch and add a few years onto my outfits. I wore this the other day and felt so grown up! haha. 

The dress is from New Look, courtesy of my lovely Auntie who came round with a few dresses for me. Shoes are from a concession in Debenhams and the bag, Mulberry Bayswater.

Like I said yesterday, my mum is terrible at taking outfit photos, here is a prime example- top of head cut off. How hard is it!? 

Let's talk about work & uni. Recently all my friends have finished university, to be graduating officially in November (well done guys!), I've been in my job now for officially 13 months, and it's definitely been the best 13 months of my life, I've visited New York, LA & most recently the Cannes Film Festival, all paid for by my lovely boss. I really am a lucky girl. 

However, I'm currently degreeless... How much will this impact my future career I constantly wonder? Are any of you readers older and in the career you've always wanted or maybe happen to fall into, without a degree and this hasn't affected you in any way? Or have you come up against problems because of the lack of degree? Talk to me people :)

big bun.

Bonjourno! It's been a while, months and months infact. I do apologise! 

Saturday night was spent munching at Pizza Express & rocking out with my Muma in Reigate. Shane Ritchie was playing with his tribute band (Shane Ritchie & the Prelude), if they're ever near you, go! It's seriously such a good night, so entertaining! (Apologies for the following photos, if you follow me on instagram @alana_stu then you would have already seen them!)

I watched a youtube tutorial on how to use the bun donut thingy and in it the girl backcombed the hair tonnes and pinned it in place, so I tried to do it myself... This was the result. I felt a bit self conscious for daytime/evening wear, but I would def do it for a night out or something.

Hopefully I'll be able to keep up blogging this time, however my mother is absolutely terrible at taking outfit photos, either cuts out my feet or head, althoughhhh she did just get an awesome SLR camera, might buy a tripod for it and sneakily use it muahahaha.

Me and my darling girls, Alice & Sinitta, went to London for Alice's birthday preparations 2 weeks ago. We got our nails done, hair done (and I got my eyelashes done!) It was a laaaaavly day! At the train station we had a bit of a long wait, this was probably due to the fact we got on a train going in the wrong direction oopsaaay, so we took some crazy snaps and vids. A quick snap of myself and fellow dip dye girly, Alice is below :) 

I don't know if you've heard of Brandy Melville, but it's this amazing store originating in Rome I believe, but they have some gorgeous stores in California. Their stores are decorated like a cute beach hut and they sell gorgeous clothes, jewellery and home accessories (such as little signs and hanging things). I got this pullover/jumpery type thingy in the picture from the store in Rome, but have some other bits from previous trips to America! If you are going to the US, be sure to check it out!XOXO AVS

XvbX Victoria Beckham- Fan gurrl

Victoria Beckham was my favourite Spice Girl (sometimes it was between her and Baby Spice)... She's put the Spice days behind her, and now she's a super star fashion designer, selling beautiful classic dresses and dressing some of the worlds biggest stars, such as Jennifer Lopez, Eva Longoria, Emily Blunt, Beyonce Knowles and Jessica Biel. (So jealous of these girls!) 

Lately, Victoria has turned her hand to designing of a different kind- Cars. She has helped Range Rover design their stylish new car the 'Evoque', and subsequently won Top Gear's 'Woman of the Year'. Superstar or what! 

 I used to follow Victoria's every move on one of those fan sites, "Victoria was spotted at LAX", "Victoria at the grocery store" (you get my jist lol!) I've kinda cooled down now, just seeing what she's up to from the haterz on the daily fail showbiz section. Those women are so judgemental! 

VB come's under fire a lot of the time due to her weight, but having read her autobiography in the past, her weight is something she's always struggled with like any other girl. Leave her alone people! And it makes me so angry when trolls like Katie Price aka Jordan comment on VB, Victoria has class, style, a beautiful family with an amazing husband, and a real career based on being one of the worlds biggest/successful girl bands, unlike Price who is only famous for getting her tits out, having a few famous shags/boyfriends and a absolutely tragic Eurovision song contest entry. Please. 

If you saw my 'gurrl crush' post, then you'll know that I am truly, madly, deeply in girl crush lurrrrve with the amazing Lana Del Rey. I was very very very VERY lucky to be given the opportunity to go and see her perform at a very intimate gig on Wednesday night @ The Jazz Cafe in London. 

Straight up, this night was amazing and one of the best I've had in a long time! She sang a few of her new songs from her amazing debut album. Despite what was said about her SNL performance, I can safely say she has an amazing voice and a weird but amazing stage presence. Everyone in the room was mesmerised.

I have a new lady love in the form of Lana Del Rey. The stunning, sultry starlet is the hottest thing since sliced bread (i.m.o). I'm in love with her singing voice, her talking voice, her style, her lyrics, her bod, her everything! SHE'S AMAZING. If you don't love her, WHY OH WHY?

I hope all you BritBloggers enjoyed last weeks sunshine, I alway find it so much harder to chose outfits on English sunny days...There are totally different rules to being abroad! My go-to outfit tended to be Maxi skirt - Plain tee - Denim Jacket .... yawn. boring. yawn. What do you love to wear in the sunshine? Bare legs in England? Do you fake tan before? Argh. So many questions.

So I don't talk about my job very often, heck, I don't talk on here very often....However, if you know me, you'll know I have a lovely job, at a PR company which is based in London & LA. We've been working on an absolutely amazing social campaign since I started working there, which is odd considering we're an Entertainment Publicity company!

The client is called Bite the Bite, they are a grassroots organisation who's main aim is to increase the percentage of first time voters/18-24year olds! (Think the UK version of the highly successful and celebrity endorsed Rock the Vote in America!) They don't like to use the word 'Politics', they just want to tell you about how important your vote is to you and every one around you! Bite the Ballot is running a campaign called #YouthVoteLondon, which is focussing on the Mayoral Elections in May.
Supporters of this campaign include Estelle, Tinie Tempah, Alesha Dixon, Lethal Bizzle, Noel Clarke, Preeya Kalidis and MANY more! 

They are holding an amazing event at the Ministry of Sound on Saturday 14th April (between 12pm-5pm) for young Londoners aged 16 and over. The event is a registration rally, with its primary objective being entertainment whilst getting young people to sign on to the electoral register (did you know that you are not automatically signed on to it when you move house i.e. university houses etc?)... EVERY young Londoner is invited to attend this event. mothers day jaunt.

Today I went shopping in Brighton with my muma for Mothers day, it was quite lovely strolling down the lanes with her and quite nice weather too. Popped into my favourite shop for girly bits and bobs- Velvet. Those of you who have been into Velvet will know they sell the quaintest, cutest little things! I'm quite obsessed with the items below, although the top one is my favourite!

It's been a while girls! How are you? Not much has been happening lately, time is going so quickly! In 4 months I will be moving back home from Southampton (boohoo?) Currently redecorating my room at home, ready for the big move- it's looking lush (will post pic). 

This weekend I went out for dinner and then to a leaving 'do with my beautiful Sister (Mum). In case you were wondering we went to Prezzo and it was uh-mayyyy-zing. She looked absolutely beautiful, rocking the black Topshop skinnies, feather top and grey blazer. Go Mum!

new year, new you?

HAPPY NEW YEAR! Sorry it's a bit late, I've only just returned from my hols. I hope you all had a fabulous Christmas & New Years! Mine was spent laying on a beach in Thailand (heaven!) For any one thinking about going travelling- do it. I know I was only away for 2 weeks, but seriously I've been bitten by the travel bug (I was told never to say that phrase again- oops). 

ALSO! Happy belated birthday to my pal, Ray! It was her birthday on the 4th, I hope you all sent her a lovely message? If not, write two next year? 

So, what are your *dreaded* New Years resolutions? Mine include: 

Being smilier [they're infectious don't you know! :)] 

Eating my 5-a-day [I'm being realistic with food goals]

Finally completing the 30 day shred [I've never quite made it to the 20th day]

Being A LOT more organised [I'm a bit of a hoarder, so it's hard to find things in a hurry, such as clothes, important documents, keys etc]

Travel more [Vegas, LA, and Melbourne are hopes]

Post on this blog more! [I totally neglected the blog the last 6 months of the year, due to getting a new job, moving house and travelling a hell of a lot, but I'm back and I'm raring to go ;)] 

Before I left for my vacay, I got my hair did. This is what it looked like that very day (it's completely different now, the top colour has faded so it doesn't look like such a huge contrast- still contrasting but not so hideously).... I just thought "what the hell, why not do something crazy?" I immediately regretted it as my hair stylist seemed incapable of actually doing it once she started but hey, you live and learn, and I've learned to start looking for a new hairdresser. 

Anywho, I know you've got opinions, so constructive criticism is very welcome. I know the dip-dye is at the total wrong place. So there's no point writing that if you were going to.
